Awards
IACAMH has instituted following four awards to encourage mental health professionals to excel in the field of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry: Poona Psychiatrists Association Oration Award, The JC Marfatia Award (Best Paper), The Luke Clack Award, The Niloufer Award. Only members of IACAMH are eligible to apply for any of the award categories. The announcement of results of all the Awards are made at the Annual General Body Meeting. In all matters pertaining to the Awards, the decision of the Executive Council shall be final and binding on all concerned.

Oration Award - The J. C. Marfatia Award (Best Paper)
- The Luke Clack Award
- The Niloufer Award
- For any paper to be considered for an award, it shall be necessary for the author to submit only Online through email 1 copy of full paper/nomination for oration (as Microsoft Word file) to the Chairman, Awards Committee by a date determined by the Chairman, Awards Committee.
- To be eligible for the award, the paper must fulfil each of the following criteria:-
- (a) It must be a research paper (i.e. original data-based research only; not case report/series/systematic review/meta-analysis) based on work done in India and must not have been published or submitted for publication in a scientific journal nor presented partly or wholly; nor have won any award at a National or International Conference.
- (b) The Presenting-cum-Principal author and at least 50% of all authors must be members of the IACAMH. at the time of the last date of submission for the particular year ([i] The submitting author should provide a full list of All Authors with their current membership status and membership number at the time of submitting their paper. [ii] The membership status will be considered valid only up till the last date regarding submission of Awards as per the first announcement of the Conference for the particular year (Kindly note that anyone applying for new/upgradation of membership within 2 weeks of this last date will not be considered eligible).
- The full papers received for consideration for the Awards shall be considered by a panel of at least 3 judges appointed by the Chairman, Awards Committee who shall select papers of sufficient merit for presentation during the Biennial Conference for final rating. Out of all the submitted papers assessed by the judges, the Chairman, Awards Committee shall select up to a maximum of three best papers for each award with the highest pooled percentage scores for presentation at the Biennial Conference. The papers need to score a minimum of 50% marks, to be considered for presentation in the Award Session.
- A panel of at least 3 judges (separate from the ones which assessed the written versions) will be appointed by the Chairman, Awards Committee. Out of the total marks, 50% will be for preparation and compilation of the paper and 50% for its presentation at the Conference. The paper with the highest pooled rank order (with minimum of 50% marks) shall be declared the winner. However, the paper will need to score a minimum of 50% in both written and presentation segments separately; apart from a joint total score of 50% to be considered eligible for having qualified for winning any given Award. In case of a tie among two papers, both the papers will be declared as joint winners, and award certificates will be provided to authors of both the papers and award money will be given in equal half to the authors of both the papers.
- All listed authors of the award winning papers shall be considered to have won the award and are eligible for receiving cash prize and certificate (Cheque of award money will be handed over to Presenting-cum- Principal author for equal distribution among all the authors).
- If in the opinion of a majority of judges, no paper is of high enough merit, there will be no award that year.
- No paper shall be eligible to contest for an award where a member who has won that award in the immediately preceding conference appears as an author or co-author.
- None of the judges of the award and none of the members of the Awards Committee shall be contestant for any Award that year.
- The practical and logistic problems from time to time in assessment process will be dealt with appropriately by the Chairman Awards Committee in consultation with President and Secretary-General.
- The paper can be considered only for the category for which it has been nominated/submitted.
- All the papers selected for award presentation at the National Conference will be the property of the Association (IACAMH) for publication in the Journal of the Society. If the authors want to consider their paper for potential publication in any other journal, then the Corresponding Author needs to seek permission from the Editor of the JIACAM for the same. This is not applicable for the papers who win any of the Awards as they will not be allowed to be published in any other journal apart from the Association's official journal except under “extremely exceptional circumstances” which will have to be justified in writing by the Corresponding Author and endorsed by the Editor who has to then get it approved from the EC.
- The paper shall be prepared in accordance with the "Instructions to Contributors" published in the ‘Journal of Indian Association of Child and Adolescent Mental Health’ (JIACAM). Abstract of the paper (not more than 300 words) shall be enclosed with the paper as per guidelines.
- For Award Winning Papers: Award papers will be subjected to Peer review process as per Journal criteria and accordingly authors need to update in line with the Reviewers’ and Editor’s comments.
- The authors should furnish Declaration containing following items at the time of submission:
a) The Presenting-cum-Principal author and at least 50% of all the authors are members of society
b) This or a substantially similar paper has not won any award in any other conference earlier OR is not under consideration for another award in any other conference (local/zonal/national/international).
c) This or substantially similar paper has not been published or been submitted for publication in any scientific journal.
d) The paper has not been presented earlier in any other conference in part or in whole.
e) Consent from all authors about submission of the paper and a certificate that there is no copy right infringement related to the contents of the paper.
f) None of the authors have won the same award in the immediate preceding conference.
g) Ethics clearance has been obtained from appropriate ethics committee/ review board (copy of letter to be attached).
- h) A signed statement from All Authors in which they submit a plagiarism report of similarity index of less that 15%, with similarity from single source not exceeding 3%
- i) The paper is based on work done in India.
- j) A signed statement from All Authors regarding the non-usage of “Artificial Intelligence (AI)” in the preparation of the manuscript.

GUIDELINES FOR EVALUATION OF AWARD PAPERS
The written manuscripts will be evaluated as already mentioned under GENERAL RULES-AWARDS.
A panel of judges shall rate the papers. There shall be three judges in each panel (comprising of 2 different sets). Out of the total allotted marks i.e. 100, 50% will be for preparation and compilation of the written manuscript & 50% will be for presentation during the conference. The assessment of the written manuscript will be on the following pattern.
The evaluation pattern will be uniform for All Award Papers (except Poona Psychiatrists Association Oration; which is already detailed earlier).

- Award comprises of: Cash prize and a certificate that is to be given by the Association OR Organizers of the Conference of that year.
- Any Fellow of IACAMH with at least 10 years of good professional standing can propose the name of any other Fellow of IACAMH for the oration (The Proposer should provide written statement regarding their proposing of the nominee along with a self-attested photocopy ID confirming their age).
- The nominee should be [i] a Fellow of IACAMH at least for last 10 years with good professional standing, [ii] should be above 50 years of age; [iii] an eminent professional regarding his/her overall contribution to the care and treatment of children and adolescent with mental health problems .
- The full copy of the proposal as detailed below (in MS Word) must be submitted only Online through email to the Chairperson, Awards Committee by the last date of submission of awards.
- Name of the Nominee, Age, Academic qualifications, posts held and current address for correspondence.
- A note giving full details of the outstanding contribution of the nominee in the area of child and adolescent mental health, which makes him/her worthy of the Award (at least 500 words)
- A short biographical sketch of the candidate (at least 250 words)
- A FULL list of publications; including Five reprints/scanned photocopies of either recent significant papers, or papers of outstanding contribution in the subject.
- A FULL list of Awards won earlier, in same or different areas
- A list of at least 4 (up to a maximum of 5) referees who are familiar with the nominee’s work.
- The proposal must be accompanied by a written and signed consent of the nominee.
- A panel of 3 judges appointed by the Chairman, Awards Committee shall rate the nominations. The contribution of the nominee in the field of child mental health shall be the basis for rating. The nomination securing the highest total marks (out of 100) shall win the oration, subject to ratification by the Awards Committee. In case of tie, the short listed nominations shall be re-assessed by another panel of three judges. The nominee must get at least 50 marks out of 100 to win the oration.
- Final evaluation would be done as per the following guidelines:
- Contribution to development of Child Mental Health in India – 35 marks
- Contribution to IACAMH: 25 marks (As office bearer, Organizing and attending IACAMH activities, Presenting Papers / Chairperson in IACAMH activities, Presenting Award Papers and any other significant contribution to IACAMH).
- Overall Research Contribution: 20 marks (2 marks for non-PubMed journal and 4 marks for PubMed journal.)
- Experience/ Seniority in the profession: 10 marks (Half mark for each year after 50 years of age)
- Awards and Honors by Professional Associations: 10 marks (one mark for an award by state/ zonal body, 2 marks for a national award and 3 marks for an international award)
- The result of the Poona Psychiatrists Association (PPA) Oration is declared before the Conference so that the selected Speaker can present his/her Oration at the upcoming Conference.
- The selected oration paper will become the property of the IACAMH and shall be published in the Journal of Indian Association of Child and Adolescent Mental Health’ (JIACAM) with necessary editorial corrections. The speaker will pass on the oration paper to the Editor, Journal of Indian Association of Child and Adolescent Mental Health’ (JIACAM) within 4 weeks of the last date of the annual conference for publication in the Journal. The Editor shall ensure that the Oration is published by the second (preferably in the first) issue of the JIACAM in the immediate forthcoming year.
- The speaker can choose any topic related to Child and Adolescent Psychiatry for the oration.
- No person shall win the Oration more than once.

Dr Nitin Gupta
- Award comprises of Cash prize and a certificate that is to be given by the Association OR Organizers of the Conference of that year.
- This award is for the best unpublished paper presented at the conference of the IACAM.
- There is no age bar to compete for this award.
- The study should have been carried out within two years of the time of presentation i.e. it should be based on a recent research.
- An applicant can submit a maximum of two papers for the award.
- The results will be declared by the President at the Annual General Body meeting and the scroll and the prize money will be awarded at the valedictory function of the same conference.

Dr Nitin Gupta
- Award comprises of Cash prize and a certificate that is to be given by the Association OR Organizers of the Conference of that year.
- The Award is for the best unpublished paper presented at the Biennial Conference of the IACAM on original research in Infant, Child and Adolescent psychiatry done in India.
- Only members less than 35 years of age at the time of last day of submission of award (as per first announcement of the Conference) are eligible.
- The paper must be accompanied with proof certifying age of the Presenting-cum-Principal author.
- The award can only be won once by any member of the society as Principal Author.
- The results will be declared by the President at the Annual General Body meeting and the scroll and the prize money will be awarded at the valedictory function of the same conference.

Dr Nitin Gupta
- Award comprises of Cash prize and a certificate that is to be given by the Association OR Organizers of the Conference of that year.
- This Award is for the best unpublished paper on psychotherapeutic interventions presented at the Biennial Conference of the IACAM on original research in Infant, Child and Adolescent psychiatry done in India.
- The contesting paper should be based on the work done in India during the five years preceding the year of the conference.
- The results will be declared by the President at the Annual General Body meeting and the scroll and the prize money will be awarded at the valedictory function of the same conference.
